I prepared myself to be blown away, which is always a perilous move when you read something new.

MOONTIDE QUARTET SEQUEL SERIES
I was very eager to get started and had high hopes that I would be deeply engrossed in this book and ultimately the rest of the series going forward. Hair definitely has some guts to tread into that territory and I thought it was not only a brave move but also a fresh idea to try to tell the story of that history in a fantasy-like setting where magic is involved. I have never read a fantasy book that touched on this topic before and it intrigued me to say the least. After reading the summary it looked like Hair was attempting to construct a fantasy retelling of the whole Middle Eastern culture vs the western conflict that has evolved in our past and present “real life” history. That is high praise indeed! So I felt like I wasn’t really taking a very big chance when I picked up the first volume, Mage’s Blood based primarily on all of the good publicity. Martin Song of Ice and Fire book to be released. One particular review that I came across regarding this series even went so far as to say that it was a worthy substitute if you are eagerly awaiting the next George R.R. Hair is a New Zealand author, one of many up and coming talented writers who have been emerging on the fantasy scene recently from that island country.

Then I wonder, “Is it just me?” or “Did I miss something?” David Hair’s Moontide series is one that I kept hearing amazing things about. the reader will want to keep plenty of gnostic energy on hand.fans of the series will be eager to see what comes next."'e" Kirkus Reviews, "I love the depth of Hair's magic system, as well as the wide variety of his characters. We've got two more books left in David Hair's world, and I can't wait to see what he's got up his sleeves next.Sometimes I read a book that everyone else seems to love and for some reason it just doesn’t resonate with me. Hair capably spins a rather elaborate storyline, or better multiple storylines, all suitably tangled, given the conspiracies and mind-scramblings that are afoot. Scarlet Tides is an engaging, well-developed book."'e" Fanboy Comics, "A mashup of J.R.R. "'e" Bookloons, "David Hair's Scarlet Tides, the second novel in his Moontide Quartet series, has been compared to great fantasy epics such as A Song of Ice and Fire and The Wheel of Time, and it easily earns it place amongst them. One such is a magical construct, the Leviathan Bridge that is underwater most of the time.this engrossing story will continue in the third episode, Unholy War. Many of the characters are realistically complex, few remain the same by the end of the novel, and many are thrown into situations that either reveal or create different facets of their personality."'e" Fantasy Literature Reviews, "Along the way, the author introduces some very unusual fantasy elements and handles them well. Depth of character was a strong point in Mage's Blood and it is here as well. "'e" A Bitter Draft, "Hair takes his time with all these narrative arcs, allowing the characters lots of space within which to grow.

He improved on everything that made Mage's Blood so good and added even more oomph to it. So long for the difficult second book-Hair seems to handle these with ease and I'm already looking forward to the third one even though it's so far away." 'e" Liviu Suciu, Fantasy Book Critic, "Hair's The Scarlet Tides continues a fantastic epic fantasy series with a great cast, immersive world, and fascinating system of magic that builds to a stunning several-hundred page conclusion in the vein of Steven Erikson, where everything possible happens to everyone.

the reader will want to keep plenty of gnostic energy on hand.fans of the series will be eager to see what comes next."- Kirkus Reviews, "The Scarlet Tides is simply faster, better and even more satisfying that its prequel.
